Different Types of Green Energy

Green energy – also known as sustainable or renewable energy – comes from natural sources, such as water, sunlight and the wind. Sustainable energy is much more environmentally friendly than several other types of energy because it can be easily produced with very little pollution. This energy doesn’t also contribute to global warming or climate change like most traditional energy sources. Additionally, unlike fossil fuels (oil and coal), all sources of green energy are renewable, which means that they are in continuous supply and replenish naturally.

Here is a list of most common types of green energy

1. Wind Powerjt5ey4

Wind power is one of the popular types of sustainable energy across the world. It’s produced by wind turbines with their rotating blades, which harness the kinetic energy of wind. These turbines have generators that also harness mechanical energy from the rotating blades to produce electricity. These days, most states generate enough power and electricity through wind.

2. Solar Energy

This energy is generated by cells, which convert sunlight to power and electricity using the right equipment and tools. Typically, special properties of certain semiconducting materials are used to convert sunlight into electricity. Additionally, solar energy systems don’t generate carbon dioxide or air pollutants.

3. Hydroelectric Energy

Water is the main source of this energy where a hydroelectric power station relies entirely on the water cycle. Water is used to power the turbines, which are connected to a generator that generate energy using water currents. The amount of hydroelectric energy produced is determined by the speed of water flow. This means that a swiftly flowing river can be used to produce more energy that a slow moving water current.

4. Biomass

Biomass is also another type of renewable energy that is generated when organic wastes, such as animal waste, wood waste, agricultural residues and trees decay. For instance, landfills are the main source of biomass. Through combustion, this form of energy can be converted to fuel for the production of electricity.

This is an alternative form of green energy that is quite reliable and sustainable. Geothermal electricity is generated when heat energy is derived from magma conduits, hydrothermal circulation or hot springs – specifically to rotate turbines/heat buildings. This type of renewable energy is considered reliable and sustainable because the earth has 1031 joules of heat energy that naturally flows to the earth’s surface by conduction.

6. Landfills Gas

Most organic wastes that animals, plants and people usually generate end up in landfills. While in these landfills organic waste decomposes to produce landfill gas, which is made of approx. 50% methane. This gas is captured and then used to power/fuel electric generators to generate electricity.

Conclusively, these types of green energy are all reliable and sustainable. However, each of them requires specific equipment and tools to be effective and produce energy.
